South Side students are excited about civics education! After Christmas Break, our friendly neighborhood Student Resource Officer, Officer Brad Scare, began issuing a challenge to our students each week. Officer Scare poses a civics question to our Trailblazers dealing with some aspect of governance in our nation. Students submit their answers in hopes of winning prizes including a ride in a police car! During our first week, 6th grader Gabe Trainer won the challenge, answering a question about Martin Luther King Jr.'s I have a Dream speech. Last week's winner, 3rd grader Riley Reading, was able to name the Fourth Amendment and the protections it grants to us against illegal search and seizure. This week's question: How many stars did the U.S. Flag display in the year Officer Scare was born?
