Our school is participating in the American Red Cross Pint-Size Hero Program, which will introduce elementary school students to the importance of blood donation. This program offers our school an activity that is fun, educational and supports the community. The Pint-Size Hero Program begins with teaching students about the function of blood, blood components and the need for blood donors. Afterward, students will be asked to recruit their parents, family members, and other adults to donate for our school’s upcoming blood drive. The Red Cross believes that we will create a future generation of blood donors by getting students involved at an early age.
Your student has taken part in a Pint-Size Hero educational presentation at school and has received a letter requesting you (or another adult) to donate blood on his or her behalf. The letter includes a donor appointment request form for those interested in donating to complete and return to school with your child. Our blood drive will be held on Tuesday, October 28th from 2:30-7:00pm.
The Red Cross would like to thank the students for making the blood drive a success. Each student who recruits at least one person who donates at the blood drive will be recognized as a Pint-Size Hero and will receive a fun appreciation item from the Red Cross. The best part is knowing they helped save lives!
